Is your MCAT Exam coming up soon? Here is what you can do to make sure that you're as ready as possible for the big test.

Establish a Private Studying Space

It's important to make sure that you have a dedicated private study space to use anytime you want to while preparing for your MCAT exam. If you share a room with someone else or study in a common area within your home, make a list of rules for the rest of the household to follow while you're studying. For example, nobody should interrupt you for any reason unless it's a true emergency. Pets might be kept outdoors, so they don't become distracting.

And activities in the same room as your study space should be limited to make focusing easier. If you can't find a quiet space to study at home, commit to visiting a quiet corner in the library to do all of your studying. You may even be able to reserve a private study room or table for your personal use during your visits.

Create a Home Schedule

If you plan to study at home, it's a good idea to create a home schedule to follow until you've taken your MCAT exam. A schedule will help ensure that you don't give in to temptations, like watching a movie with household members or taking a nap after a long day of school and work. Your schedule should include:

  • Study Blocks

  • Meal Times

  • Free Time

  • Sleep Schedules

Post your schedule on a wall near the front door, so it's the first thing you see when you walk in the door. You should also create a digital schedule so you can refer to it at any time whether you're home or not.

Work With a Private Tutor

One of the most important things you can do to ensure that you're fully prepared for your MCAT exam is to work with an experienced private tutor. A professional MCAT tutor knows the ins-and-outs of the exam and will understand how to motivate you and properly prepare you based on your personality, preferred interests, and even your weak points.

You'll have an expert to talk to when you have specific questions and concerns, and you'll have the opportunity to learn tips and tricks that will help you retain important information, of which you aren't likely to find in preparation books or online blogs. Your MCAT tutor will help keep you on track as you try and balance your study, work, and social life throughout the exam preparation process.
