If you experience lower back pain from time to time, you need to change how you take care of your back and relate to your body in order to reduce the occurrence of pain in your lower back. Here are three different ways you can help take care of your lower back and ward off back pain.

#1 Hit The Gym

If you want to decrease the amount of pain that you feel in your back, one of the best ways to do that is by hitting the gym. Exercising can help strengthen the muscles in your core and in your back, which will help you improve your posture and reduce the risk that you will strain your back.

You don't have to run a marathon, join a team or do yoga to strengthen your back. Doing simple things like going for a daily brisk walk, taking a quick swim in the pool at the gym, or riding on a stationary or real bike for fifteen minutes are all great ways to help strengthen your back and take care of your body.

If you don't exercise that often, start simple and work your way up to more advance exercises. Even a little exercise is better than no exercise when it comes to your health and managing your back pain.

#2 Get Up And Move

Sitting for an extended period of time can put a lot of strain on your lower back, and lead to all that back pain that you are experiencing. If you work a desk job, get up every half hour or so. Take a quick walk around the office, or just get up and stretch a little right by your desk. Just the act of getting up and moving a little can reduce strain and pain that is caused by sitting all the time. When you are at home, get up and do a few little exercise moves during the commercial break or in- between each show if you like to stream your television. Any little movement helps.

#3 Watch What You Carry

Many individuals carry around backpacks or purses. However, you should be careful about what you carry and how much weight you carry. If you need to carry a bag with you, try to use one that has two shoulder straps, so that the weight is more evenly distributed. If you carry a purse, be sure to switch shoulders so you are not always straining the same one. You should also do whatever you can to reduce the weight that you have to carry on your back and shoulders; carrying too much extra weight all the time can put a real strain on your body.
